Project name:

Actions in the Integrated Management Regional Districts (DRMI)

Project location:

Colombia

Sub-focus area:

Water conservation

To protect and preserve the water sources that feed La Esmeralda Reservoir, AES Colombia invests in territories identified as conservation areas by the environmental authority of the area. These areas are called Regional Districts of Integrated Management. Protecting this vital territory not only guarantees the conservation of water sources for power generation purposes, but also preserves the biodiversity that inhabits these lands.

During 2019, two properties were purchased within the DRMI Cristales Castillejo for a total value of COP $408 million.

In addition to these purchases, an additional COP $200 million was paid for the purchase of the property La Rosa, located in the municipality of Guayatá.

Once the recovery and protection of these properties has been completed, the objective is to deliver the territory to the municipal mayors, who will be in charge of continuing with the care and protection.

Impact:

The investment plan is for 5 years (2016-2020), with a dedicated annual budget of COP $1,000 million

Partners:

Municipal Mayors, Corpochivor, Universidad Nacional de Colombia
